When Design Protects History: The New Treasury Hall in Topolovgrad Museum

The gold of the past. A space for the present.

Something important has happened in the town of Topolovgrad.
A museum that has preserved the memory of its people and land for decades now has a new space — a treasury hall where a unique gold treasure from the Sakar region is finally on display.

This is gold that has travelled through centuries.
And now, it has a home worthy of its history.

The new space is part of the Topolovgrad Municipal History Museum — a place dedicated to safeguarding cultural heritage and sharing it with generations to come.

For us at Love 2 Design , it was an honor to bring this space to life — from visual identity to the full implementation of the exhibition design.

What happens when design serves history

A treasury hall comes with its own rules — security, control, protection.
But for us, there was something just as important:

  • respect for the artifacts
  • accessibility for every visitor
  • a sense of significance

We paid attention to every detail:

  • showcases that protect, but also tell a story
  • lighting that highlights, without overwhelming
  • a calm, dark palette that lets the gold shine
  • a space that invites curiosity, not quick passage

History should be seen.
Felt.
Remembered.

A treasure returning to the people

This is not simply a collection of objects.
It is history cast in gold — knives, ornaments, wreaths and symbols created by people whose footsteps still echo in Sakar.

Now these traces can be seen in a new way.
A respectful way.

A space that tells both children and adults:

“The past is not dust. It is gold.”

The new hall houses the gold treasure discovered last year near the village of Kapitan Petko Voyvoda — priceless artifacts from Sakar, now preserved and presented in their rightful home. A meaningful moment not only for the museum, but for the cultural memory of the region and the entire country.

A project built to endure

This space is designed not just for today.
It is built to last — sustainable, functional, and ready to welcome generations who will keep asking: “Who are we?”

That is why this project matters:

  • it has purpose
  • it has cultural value
  • it has heart

Thank you

To the museum team — thank you for the trust.
To everyone who protects cultural heritage — thank you for your courage.
To visitors — thank you for giving these artifacts new meaning.

We hope this design protects history well.
And inspires us to rediscover it again and again.

History is the most beautiful story we should never forget.
And we are here to help make it seen.
